Here is another perfect example of my in actual fact very casual sense of style. I chose this look to go for some drinks at a cool bar called the Terminus. The pink leather jacket was a Paris purchase. I found it in a cute, high end boutique store and it’s by a brand called Iro. It is made of the softest lamb skin I have ever felt and the discount on it was simply crazy! 1000 euros to 500 euros!
Yes that is still fairly expensive, but when I tried it on I almost fainted. A PINK LEATHER JACKET! It is everything in the world I stand for. Quality, classy, girly, preppy, Parisian and one of a kind. The sales assistant could see it in my eyes and with his heart melting too, he simple said “you just have to get it”, hands purses to his lips. We were having a Parisian fashion moment together!
Yet, despite it’s designer roots, this jacket it still casual cool. The exact nature of its also Parisian heritage. At the moment I feel I am going through a style transition. I want pieces to be investments, adding to this look of casual luxe I keep coming back to again and again. Each piece in this outfit embodies casual luxe- the denim skirt, the knee high boots, the striped tee and of course the leather.
And the giant blue hat you may ask? Well a girl still likes to have some fantasy elements in her dress ups. I didn’t actually wear the blue hat out to the bar that night. I’m just not sure Melbournians are really ready for big, wide brimmed blue hats. But New Yorkers… now they were born ready for my collection of hats! Come April, I’ll be frolicking and parading all my lovely hats around Manhattan. And perhaps my style will again shift… casual luxe? Maybe NYC is just more of a city worth dressing up for.
